Graphic Design, Visual communication for products and store, Content Creation

I worked with IKEA India for 2 years in the role of Graphic Communicator. As part of the first IKEA store in the country, our role was crucial in securing brand identity, concept, and provide a smooth shopping experience for the customers.

This included strategic planning and implementation of communication throughout the store. I made sure the visual impression and the product range were presented and communicated in a way that supports self-choice and the IKEA mechanical sales system.

I collaborated with the Communication & Interior Design team as well as other functions to stimulate and increase the interest in home furnishing. We were also responsible to inspire people to improve their life at home and home furnishing. This also led to frequent store visits by the customers. It was crucial to increase customer value, drive business growth, and contribute to the overall success of the company.

1. Better Life Launch

Every quarter of the year, IKEA launches new products and offers. This ensures vitality, inspiration, and the promise of something new for the customers. The launch usually revolves around seasonal changes, festivals, and various aspects of a better life at home.

This particular launch "a better world starts at home" featured various ways of living sustainably. I collaborated with my visual merchandising and sales partners to conceptualize and create various media within the store that depicted locally relevant solutions.

2. Kitchen Shop Rebuild

One year into the store opening, the kitchen department of IKEA Hyderabad store was underperforming. The commercial team identified the scope of improvement in customer interaction, their understanding of the products, and overall sales. They decided to rebuild the department and strategized the action plan.

As per the action plan, I along with the commercial team, followed a well-defined process to execute this rebuild. Our focus was on communicating and presenting the key benefits of the IKEA kitchen offering. This included up to 10 years guarantee on various appliances, better presentation and overview of the product range, kitchen design services, affordability and quality of the product range.

As a result of the rebuild, customer satisfaction and sales figure went up considerably.

3. First Birthday Campaign

In August 2019, IKEA Hyderabad completed one year of successfully serving the customers and delivering a better life at home. To celebrate this, we planned a birthday campaign in the store as well as other platforms.

At the store level, we created an atmosphere of birthday celebrations where customers can celebrate this occasion with us. The campaign ran for one month. Along with my team, I designed various media throughout the store, created communications for sales offers and customer meeting points.

4. In-store Communication

As part of my role, I was responsible for all the communication needs. This ranged from customer navigation, product communication, facilitating mechanical sales, easy buying, inspirations, campaigns, seasonal launches, and coworker communication etc.
